Harry Styles gave fans two costumes in one night. On Friday, October 30, the 32-year-old singer opened the first of two Harryween shows at Madison Square Garden dressed as Elvis Presley, then changed into the outfit he wore for his X Factor audition at 16 and sang the very song that started his career.
It was the penultimate night of his 30-night Together, Together residency at the famous New York venue, and the return of Harryween after five years away. Here is what happened, and why the night mattered so much to his fans.
Elvis opens the night
Styles took the stage in a white bedazzled Elvis jumpsuit, complete with a blue satin-lined cape and gold sunglasses. It was a tribute to the King’s famous 1970s Las Vegas look, and the crowd recognised it at once.
His band and dancers joined in the joke, dressing as different versions of Styles himself from across his career, including looks inspired by his Coachella and Grammys appearances. The whole stage became a parade of his own past selves, with Elvis leading it.
The Elvis nod runs deeper than a costume. The first song Styles ever recorded was a cover of Presley’s “The Girl of My Best Friend”, so the tribute connected the start of his recording life to the biggest night of his current tour.
There was also a very fitting guest in the crowd. Elvis’s granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, was spotted watching the show alongside Styles’s fiancée, Zoë Kravitz, who was dressed as a devil in a red look with matching horns. Keough was seen filming as Styles performed in her grandfather’s famous outfit.

Then he became his 16-year-old self
Midway through the show, Styles changed costume again, and the second one surprised the room even more. He came back wearing the exact outfit from his original X Factor audition in 2010: a grey cardigan over a white T-shirt, a yellow scarf, brown khakis, and his audition number pinned to his chest.
Then he sang Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely”, the song he performed for judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh when he was 16 years old. That audition in 2010 was the moment his career began, and 16 years later he was singing the same song to a sold-out Madison Square Garden.
Fan footage of the moment spread across social media within minutes of the show ending. You can read NME’s report on the show for the full details and video clips from the night.
What Harryween is
Harryween is Styles’s Halloween tradition. He first held two special Halloween concerts at Madison Square Garden in 2021, and they became one of the most talked-about parts of that tour. Fans dress up, Styles dresses up, and the shows turn into a full Halloween party.
This year the tradition came back to the same venue, and the two 2026 shows close out his entire New York run. The night before, on Wednesday, October 28, he had already surprised the crowd by performing “Ever Since New York” for the first time in four years.
The city marked the occasion too. Manhattan’s borough president declared Friday, October 30, Harry Styles Appreciation Day in the borough, ahead of the Halloween-night finale.
The costumes were not the only Halloween story in music this week. Stars across the industry have been showing off their looks, and you can see the best celebrity Halloween costumes of 2026 in our roundup, including Heidi Klum’s Halloween costume teaser, which had fans guessing for days.
The residency ends tonight
Saturday, October 31, brings the second Harryween show, and with it the end of the 30-night Madison Square Garden residency. The run began in August as part of his Together, Together world tour, and it drew a record 11.5 million presale registrations on Ticketmaster, making it one of the hardest tickets to get all year. A 30-night stand is also one of the longest residencies the Garden has ever hosted.
The tour supports his fourth solo album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, which was released in March 2026. After New York, Styles heads to Australia for concerts in Melbourne and Sydney in November and December. The tour then returns to the United States and Canada in April 2027, with European dates to follow in the summer, before wrapping up at London’s Wembley Stadium on August 28, 2027.
For fans, the two Harryween nights were the perfect way to end the New York run: one costume honouring a legend, and one honouring the 16-year-old who once stood in front of three judges and sang Stevie Wonder, hoping for a chance.
