Sharon Osbourne has given fans a major update on the long-awaited Ozzy Osbourne biopic, confirmed that Ozzfest will return in 2027, and spoken honestly about how she is coping more than a year after her husband’s death.
The 74-year-old television personality and music manager shared the news in interviews around the release of Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning, the film of Ozzy’s final concert, which opened in cinemas on October 28.
The Ozzy biopic is moving forward
The film about Ozzy’s life has been in development since 2021, with Oscar-nominated writer Lee Hall attached to write the script. Speaking to Billboard, Sharon confirmed that the project is now moving into its next stage, according to a report of her Billboard interview.
“[We are] going out looking for directors as we speak,” Sharon said. “[There are] two actors I have in mind [to play Ozzy].”
She explained why she believes Ozzy’s story deserves the big-screen treatment: “With somebody like Ozzy, not to do a movie on his life would be ridiculous. There are very few artists who have had a career like him, and what he came from to become world-renowned is just a great story… perfect for a movie.”
The film is expected to focus on the relationship between Ozzy and Sharon, and is expected to be released around 2028. Sharon, Jack and Aimee Osbourne are set to produce it.
Ozzfest returns in 2027
Sharon also confirmed that Ozzfest, the heavy metal festival she founded after Lollapalooza turned Ozzy down for a place on its line-up, will return in 2027, with dates planned in the UK and the US. More details are due to be announced soon.
The 2027 return is planned for Villa Park in Birmingham, the same stadium where Black Sabbath and Ozzy played their farewell show in July 2025, in front of a crowd of around 42,000.

Visiting Ozzy’s grave every day
In a separate interview with the BBC, Sharon spoke about her daily life since Ozzy’s death on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76. She said she visits his grave every day at the family’s home in Buckinghamshire, where he is buried in the garden, according to a report on her BBC interview.
“Of course, every day,” she told the BBC when asked whether she visits his burial place. “I can see him from my window.”
Ozzy died of a cardiac arrest and acute myocardial infarction, according to his death certificate, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease also listed. He had played his final live show just 17 days earlier, on July 5, 2025, at the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park, reuniting with Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward.
Sharon was candid about her grief, 15 months on: “You’ve lost the love of your life, so you don’t just wake up and go, ‘I’m fine now. I’m cured.’ You never get over it,” she said. “But you learn to live with it, and that’s what I’m trying to do.”
The family, 15 months on
The interviews come as the Osbourne family continues to adjust to life without Ozzy, who Sharon was married to for 43 years. She shares children Aimee, 43, Kelly, 42, and Jack, 41, with him.
In the days around Kelly’s 42nd birthday, The Sun reported that Sharon and Jack had met with Aimee, who has long been estranged from Kelly, outside Jack’s Los Angeles home on October 26. The report said Kelly was hurt by the meeting, though she respected her family’s right to stay in touch with Aimee. The meeting was said to have come as the family supported Aimee following their father’s death.
Sharon attended the Los Angeles premiere of Back to the Beginning on October 14, 2026, and has been promoting the concert film, which preserves Ozzy’s farewell performance for fans who could not be there.
What happens next
With directors now being sought for the biopic and Ozzfest dates to be announced, 2027 is shaping up to be a big year for the Osbourne family. For Sharon, though, the work sits alongside a quieter daily routine: visiting the garden grave she can see from her window, and learning, in her own words, to live with the loss.
